HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SET UP A PERSONAL PODCAST SERIES?
We get this question a lot and it's rather like asking how long is a piece of string!
Of course for a basic podcast and a little know-how you can set up a podcast series for very little. Consider firstly your equipment, your initial costs and then your running costs. Equipment varies in price, but we can recommend some excellent, moderately priced recording tech to get you started. Set up costs depends on whether you want music, voice over artists or a host, and running costs will include your monthly expenses plus your podcast hosting site which is in the region of £20 per month.
CAN I RUN MY PODCAST SERIES OFF MY OWN SITE?
Yes, in the main, as long as your website, or website host has the facility to connect to a main podcast hosting site. All you need is an RSS feed to push all the data through into your own beautifully designed and branded page.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PODCAST HOSTING SITE AND A DIRETORY SITE LIKE APPLE, SPOTIFY AND GOOGLE PODCASTS?
The hosting site is where you upload, store and stream your series with episodes. Spotify, for example, is a directory site which, like your own website, works from an RSS Feed. People search for podcasts on the directory sites, so make sure you have connected to as many as possible.
